Daybook

Outside my window...
In a completely unpredictable weather pattern, this February morning is gray and cold! I am so over winter at this point.

I am thankful...
for family! I had a great weekend spending some quality time with my family. I love how we always have a lot to laugh about, and I am so excited to welcome my brother's fiancee into the family. He proposed at the end of January, and we couldn't be happier for the both of them.

(Although really, when did my baby brother grow up?!)

In the kitchen...
I posted this on the 'gram last night, but I have perfected the most amazing sauce. My family told me I couldn't call it "Crack Butter," so on Wednesday, keep an eye out for my fantastic take on "Sauce au Vert." Green, herbal goodness that will make you completely forget we're still stuck in the winter doldrums.

Yes, Granny, I ate more for dinner than that.

I am wearing...
The usual suit. I may or may not go to trial this morning, so I am attempting to look serious and in charge. We'll see if it works!

I am creating...
I am trying to get back into the groove of writing - blogging, journaling, and creating new ideas. I want to write a book this year (I say that every year), and the only way I'll be able to do it is if I actually force myself to write every day. I have some ideas with real potential - some interesting fiction that's been percolating in my brain for a couple years, but the struggle is to actually get them on paper. Sometimes it's far more fun to hunt for pictures of actors who I would cast in my future movie and draw maps of the places I'm wanting to describe than just write. So here's hoping I get more creative juices flowing.

I am going...
to BalletMet's production of The Great Gatsby next weekend. I can't wait! The Boyfriend gave me tickets for Christmas, and I have been not-so-patiently waiting for the show. It is going to be amazing, and I'm so excited to introduce him to BalletMet.

I am wondering...
if Kanye West is just trolling us, or is he really serious with these shenanigans?

I am reading...
The Widow Clicquot by Tilar J. Mazzeo. It's a fascinating look at the founding of that famous champagne house.

I am hoping...
for a sign or two of spring, soon! I know everyone complains about the weather in February, but since I'm going to probably miss my annual March trip south with The Boyfriend, I need some sun to compensate. C'mon weather, help a girl out.

I am looking forward to...
I'd say spring, but that would be getting a bit too repetitive, wouldn't it? So instead, I'll say my brother's wedding. His fiancee is Cambodian, and I am so excited that they are having both a western-style wedding and a Khmer-style wedding. On a completely shallow note, the clothing is gorgeous.

I am learning...
a lot about Khmer wedding traditions. Some weddings can be seven days long. Can we all say party?

Around the house...
I've just been sorting through things to donate for my annual spring cleaning. It just feels better when everything is neat, tidy, and organized.

I am pondering...
my to-do list, which seems to be growing, rather than shrinking. There are so many things I need to be doing, and want to be doing, and I barely make a dent each day. I'm thinking I need to work on resetting my expectations.

I am praying...
for some personal goals I have set.

A favorite quote for today...

"Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love." - St. Therese of Lisieux

One of my favorite things...
This is going to sound crazy, but I have really developed a love for Amazing Grass Green Superfood Powder in the berry flavor. I struggled with greens powders before - too gritty, too earthy and hard to deal with unless masked with a smoothie. And even then, sometimes it still wasn't good. But the berry flavor is fantastic, especially mixed with a little juice. I really feel more energetic and healthy when I fit it in, and I think even if it's a placebo effect, it's worth it.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
None, yet! Going to play it spontaneous this week.

A peek into my day...

This is actually from Saturday night, but I just couldn't help myself. This shoes are ri.di.cu.lous. As soon as I spotted them, I had to put them on and strike a crazy pose. I may have also tripped over my own feet while standing in one place, but I'll never tell. I really want to know - who wears these? And how?
