Daybook

Outside my window...
Gray and rainy - it's becoming a bit of a theme, isn't it?

I am thinking...
About my goals for the week and what I hope to accomplish. I've started out on the right foot this morning, and I'm hoping I can ride the wave of productivity through to the end.

I am thankful...
For family. Repeating myself from last week, but it needs to be said more often. I am very lucky.

In the kitchen...
I made a glorious butternut and pumpkin soup on Saturday - look forward to a delicious soup recipe later this week.

I am wearing...
The usual suit. Lawyers have pretty boring wardrobes - we can't all be swanning about like some Shonda Rhimes show.

I am creating...
Still working on those scrubby dishcloth type things. I like feeling productive and it's easy to whip a few of these up in a day. I've also started a tumblr (link in the sidebar). It's slightly mindless, but I love reblogging pretty photos.

I am going...
to enjoy a bit of not-going this week, as I'm still tired from all that Thanksgiving traveling.

I am wondering...
if an addiction to scented candles is a thing? There's something so charming about a candle burning while you putter around the house and some of the scents really make it seem warm and cozy. Maybe it's just a winter thing, but I love them all, from warm vanilla to spicy holiday scents to crisp linen.

I am reading...
I am still on the Million Dollar Habits book. I think The Boyfriend is disappointed I'm not reading faster. But I will say, being stuffed with turkey doesn't really inspire one to read. I'd much rather take a walk!

I am hoping...
for a great Christmas. I've worked hard to select gifts for everyone, and now I'm in that waiting game where I try not to spill the beans on what I bought.

I am looking forward to...
Celebrating Advent in a more meaningful way this year.

I am learning...
patience. Always patience.

Around the house...
I've been helping decorate for Christmas. The new wreath is looking mighty fine, I must say.

I am pondering...
Lots of lovely Advent thoughts, not just from my blog, but from others across the web. I'm really enjoying learning more about the season. Even though I sometimes worry about doing things "right," in the end, anything that focuses more on thoughtfulness, peace, and love, and less on things - I'm probably doing just fine.

I am praying...
For a private intention. Please keep W.M. and family in your thoughts and prayers.

A favorite quote for today...
I dwell in possibility - Emily Dickinson

One of my favorite things...
Amy's Organic Lentil Vegetable Soup. On cold, rainy days when I've forgotten my lunch, this is the best quick meal. Warm, filling, and most importantly, delicious. I want to know the secret to cooking lentils like this - mine always turn out to be mush.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Haven't gotten that far yet in my head. Just taking things a day at a time. Maybe this afternoon I'll make it to the mental to-do list.

A peek into my day...
Still loving this Throwback Thursday pic and all the fun stories we heard this weekend.
