Going Grey

For a long time, I hated black tea unless it was the liberally-sugared southern sweet tea variety. I preferred herbal blends or fruity green teas that were light and naturally sweet. I still like those teas, but I have discovered a new love: Twinings Lady Grey Tea.

Unlike the astringent black teas I disliked, Lady Grey was mild and citrus-y. It didn't need milk or sugar or lemon. A cup of Lady Grey makes me wish for cucumber sandwiches and scones. Come the two o'clock slump, when most people are reaching for a candy bar, this tea is the perfect pick-me-up with its slight sweetness.

Sorry, Starbucks, but I think it's time we see other people.
